Raemong Raein, SungKyunKwan Scandal’s production company, has recently released news regarding the shady circumstances surrounding publishing companies’ refusal to distribute the drama’s OST, which trio JYJ played a big part in–the company strongly believes that SM Entertainment has been pulling strings to keep the OST from being distributed. Abuse of power and intentional sabotage, SM? Really? I wouldn’t be surprised.

Ever since the the release of SungKyunKwan Scandal, which DBSK’s Yoochun co-stars in, fans have been eagerly anticipating the expected corresponding release of the drama’s OST, as not only did fellow members Junsu and Jaejoong both record solos for the soundtrack, but JYJ as a whole pitched in for the theme song Found You.

However, the songs, or the whole entire OST, for that matter were nowhere to be seen, which was unusual, seeing as OST’s are generally released with much advertisement and promotion after their respective dramas start airing. Heck, even Playful Kiss, which debuted later than Yoochun’s drama, has its OST readily available on multiple Korean download sites.

Seems like there’s been some difficulty with finding a distributor for SungKyunKwan Scandal’s OST, which is…strange, to say the least, as everyone by now knows about DBSK’s incredible marketing power. Raemong Raein states: “We contacted various companies with regards to the online distribution of the O.S.T, which the three members of TVXQ participated in, but we have hit a roadblock and are unable to progress…We believe this may be the work of a certain company using unfair corporate practices so we are planning to report the case to the Fair Trade Committee for further investigations.”

“Certain company?” Guess who? Yep, no other than our good friend SM Entertainment, who has been accused of purportedly forbidding any company from distributing JYJ’s songs and the OST for Yoochun’s drama through KMP Holdings, which was created by top entertainment companies like YG, JYP, and SM Entertainment itself.

I’ll let the quotes speak for themselves for now, because I know I tend to get extremely biased when it comes to SM and whatever beef it’s got against Junsu, Yoochun, and Jaejoong.

A representative of a distributing company stated: “From what I know, the music sites aren’t providing services for the O.S.T because KMP Holdings contacted them and asked them not to distribute the songs. In the process, they even stated that they would stop giving such sites rights to distribute songs from KMP Holdings singers if the O.S.T songs were released.”

A representative of another company also threw in his two cents, adding that “there were a lot of companies interested in distributing SungKyunKwan Scandal’s O.S.T before the drama was aired but they all gave up because there were fears that they may be hurt by releasing the songs.”

Of course, Raemong Raein isn’t going to stand for such a thing–after all, if the OST isn’t properly distributed for sale online, the production company also suffers. The company is planning on filing the case, which the Fair Trade Committee has agreed to look at. Says the Committee: “We would have to investigate the finer details, but if a certain company is using their position in the industry to stop songs of a certain singer from being distributed, then the action will be deemed as unfair corporate practices.”

SM, on the other hand, is angelically insisting that they’re innocent. One of their representatives said: “I’m hearing all of this for the first time.”

Okay, time to be biased. It’s so, so horrible that the OST is being blocked from being released, especially after all the singers have poured out their hearts and put their hard work into creating it. It doesn’t matter who the perpetrator is–this is just lame, from whatever angle you look at it. I definitely think SM has a good chance of being guilty, since it seems to hold this stupid, childish grudge against the trio. Sorry SM fans, but I honestly can’t think of anyone else who would have the motive or the power to pull a dirty trick like this. That said, I’m beyond furious about this. What is this…some kind of temper tantrum?

What do you guys think?
